I am an experienced trial attorney with 23 years of courtroom experience. I have tried a substantial number of jury trials and judge trials.
I went to college in Minnesota at St. John’s University. I graduated in 1985 with a BA in government. I then went to law school in Salt Lake City, at the University of Utah College of Law. I graduated with my JD in 1989.
My first job out of law school was with a small private firm in Salt Lake City, Utah. I then decided I wanted to work directly with people needing legal help, and I started to work in poverty law with Idaho Legal Aid Services. I represented low-income clients for about two years in Idaho Falls.
I was then a prosecutor for the next 12 years in both Idaho and Washington, and I developed significant trial experience in a variety of areas of the criminal law, including juvenile crime, misdemeanors and felonies. I also worked to protect abused and neglected children in the child protection system in Idaho.
I am now back in private practice. I focus on the representation of parents and children in the Juvenile Court system. I primarily work with dependencies – families and children attempting to repair damage to their families. I am also starting to work with clients that need protection from creditors and relief from financial problems.
I am admitted to practice in the State Courts of Washington. I am also admitted to practice in Federal District Court for Western Washington and the Federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
